Help please my game won’t work

My game won’t get past the plum on loading screen. It’ll start just goes black the music still plays and there is a cursor but it won’t load past that. I just updated my game it was working fine right before.

  • HollowaysUnit78  Please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, if you can get that far.

If that doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • HollowaysUnit78  Have you forced the game to run in DirectX 9 mode?  I ask because your dxdiag shows the game is using DX9 mode, but it wouldn't be by default.  And the clean folder should have reverted the in-game setting if that's what you used.  So if you've forced DX9 mode in the EA App, please remove that.

If that doesn't help, please try forcing the game to use your laptop's Nvidia graphics card and its integrated graphics chip in turn.  Right-click the desktop and select the Nvidia Control Panel, then Manage 3D Settings > Global settings, and choose either the high-performance Nvidia card or integrated graphics, whichever you're testing.  (This is the most efficient and reliable way to test.)  You'll want to revert to letting the system decide when you're done, but for now, let me know whether one works better than the other.

  • I am having this exact same issue. Unfortunately I have no idea how technology works so I don't understand how I'm even supposed to go about taking the steps to fix it. I don't know what any of those words are. :p

I think it's a mod conflict on my end, so I suppose I'll just go through them all one at a time until I find the culprit(s). Idk.

  • savethebees  Instead of that, try moving your entire Mods folder to the desktop.  If that helps, the problem is in the Mods folder, and you can use the 50/50 method to find the culprit more quickly.

If moving the Mods folder doesn't help, you know the problem isn't your mods or cc, and you can look elsewhere.  In that case, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
