Help! Sims 4 Crashing at every loading screen

I have no idea how to fix my game. I can play and go to the main menu at first, even select a household. But when ever i want to download a huge lot from the community or travel with my sim (usually after 5 min of playing). It crashes when the various loading screens start to glitch. I've worked hours into my game and I don't want to reboot and lose all my files. I have no mods but all the expansion packs. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled Sims 4 once; it didn't help the problem.

  • You only have a 32 bit operating system and your graphics chip is under min specs.

What graphics settings are you playing on ?

Could you check on your RAM usage while you travel ? Check how much RAM the Sims 4 process uses. If it goes over 1.7 GB, it's an out of RAM crash and the only option is to either start a new save game or upgrade to a 64 bit Operating system.

While loading the game the stats rise to roughly:

    CPU (30%) 24.0%

    Memory (88%) 1,210.0 MB

    Disk (99%) 7.1 MB/s

[they rise and fall at different rates; but this was the max stats i got from loading the game, playing the game, loading a household, and trying to travel]

While traveling it crashed; all low graphics settings.

the CPU score and Memory are constantly highlighted orange (Memory darker than CPU), but while loading the Disk flashes red

I tried traveling twice and it worked the first time but the second time the Memory was already at 88% and 1,170.0 MB and crashed. CPU and Disk were at reasonable ranges when this occurred.

This is my college laptop, we have a desktop with 64bit and probably at better graphics card.

How hard would it be to transfer the Sims 4 games, expansion packs, and gallery memory to another computer?

I bought the game and all the packs online through origin.

Would i be able to keep the Sims 4 on my laptop and just play a new game at a smaller scale?

You can move this folder to your desktop computer: documents\electronicarts\thesims4\ and then you'll have all your content there but you will need to reinstall the game (which means re-downloading the game through Origin unless you still have the installed files in programs(x86)\Origin_Games\thesims4 (path may vary depending on your installation). If you move that folder over, you might not need to re-download the whole game.

To see if a new save game works better, just click on the little plus sign in the upper right corner of your main screen.

I backed up my old game files until I can get a better gaming desktop ready.

Until then I deleted the old files and started a new game file; I also deleted all unnecessary households and the game runs fast and smooth!

Thank you for your help 🙂
