Help!

My game won't work since the last update. I've tried everything, the 50/50 method, repairing my game (which is basically just verifying files since steam doesn't have a repair option) and hard resetting with a completely new sims folder and my game still crashes. I don't have OneDrive turned on and I've tried starting it up with absolutely no mods or CC and it crashes within two seconds of booting up not even making it to the title screen. I'm seriously at my wits end and am so close to just giving up and quitting the sims entirely but I want to see if there's anything I can do first. I've read some other threads and thought I'd include the last crash and the DxDiag. Would greatly appreciate any feedback or help to get my game running at least.

  • Blue_tingz  The Sims 4 errors in your dxdiag point to the Intel graphics driver, which shouldn't be a part of the process of rendering the game.  (The graphics data can be passed through the iGPU on the way to the screen, but the driver doesn't usually cause problems here.)

Have you set your laptop to use the iGPU when playing Sims 4?  Are you perhaps playing on battery?  If so, please play with the laptop plugged in, and either undo the setting that specifies using the iGPU or explicitly set the game to use the dedicated card.

If that doesn't help, try again but in DirectX 11 mode.  If you've set the game to launch in DX9 mode within Steam, you can simply remove that.  If it's set within the game's graphics options and you can't get far enough to switch back, you can edit Options.ini, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, to change the forcedx9 setting to 0.

Your dxdiag also lists a couple of crashes of one of the graphics drivers, but since addressing that is a bit more complicated, please start with the above.
