How many saved games are you allowed in Sims 4?

I have 6 saved games right now and just tried to make a new one and instead of making a new save its just putting the new household into the last save I made. Is there a limit on how many you can have...

No, there's no limit (other than the space on your hard drive)

Did you click on the + side in the upper right corner of your screen or use the Button with the + sign and the Sims next to the big play button ?

The first starts a new save game, the second just adds a new family to your current save game.
