Infinite Load Screen When Choosing Resume/Load Game

I've tried everything I can think of. I messed with the game so much that it assumed I was a new player and started up the tutorial feature again. I'm restarting my whole game fresh so this wasn't an...

NomadSage811 lnichols07  Can you load a different, previously-unplayed household within the same save?  And to be clear, if you create a new save, play for a bit, save your progress, quit, and reload, can you load the sims you just created in that save?

I purged all my saves for personal reasons, so I'm unable to do what was suggested. If I make a new save, I can play on it, but when I quit and try to reload, it will be on an infinite load screen.
