invisible sims, no one in households?!

I created a new single sim household and tried to move her in to an empty lot. At first it loaded but when it zoomed in on the live play mode she wasn't there? There was no avatars face in the bottom corner and I couldn't do anything?!
Then I exited and tried to play a base game already moved in family and it didn't load! Just stayed on a zoomed in map view! In household management it says there aren't any sims in any of the households! Even the unplayed base game ones!
Plz help!!!
