Items in CAS have no shine since update
Just to clarify a couple of things: 1) I removed all cc and mods before testing, 2) I cleaned out the cache that is safe to erase, 3) I checked the video settings in game and everything is set for high, plus laptop mode is off.
Problem:
I noticed after the update that items in CAS that should be a bit shiny no longer were, such as some of the women's shoes, glossy lipstick, some clothing (especially the new alien outfits). I watched some videos on YouTube that show the alien outfits. They are supposed to look really slick, but not in my game. I thought at first it was my cc, so I removed it. Then I thought about my game's graphic settings and checked that. They are set to high.
Here is some of the specs for my computer:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU@3.30GHz (4 CPU's)
Memory: 16384 MB ram
DirectX 11
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560SE
approx total memory 4049 MB
I am currently working with a slightly older driver (updated March 17, 2015)--version 347.88
There is a slightly newer version, created specifically for Grand Theft Auto V. I didn't think I needed to rush to get that update, since it didn't apply to me. I don't play that game, or do I ever intend to.
Keep in mind that the shine was working perfectly fine in CAS before the update. Nothing in my computer specs changed between March 17 and now (other then the available update for my video card, and the Sims 4 update downloaded at the end of March).
I have sort of fixed the "no shine" issue, only to encounter a much worse problem. I fear it may be related to NVIDIA. I decided to try the video card update, even though it was specifically for a different game. Lo and behold, the shine problem was fixed! Unfortunately, now my game crashes after about 10 minutes of play time, regardless of whether or not mods are installed.
The game sort of crashes to desktop. The game's icon remains on the bottom menu bar, but I am unable to open it. Not only that, but I am unable to open anything on the computer's desktop. The only solution to get my computer back, is to force a shut off, by shutting it off manually, then restarting it.
I am going to also contact NVIDIA, since I honestly believe it's related to the update, and nothing to do with EA, especially since it also effects my computer's desktop, not just the game. If I can figure out a way to uninstall the update, I'll do it. I'd rather live with no shine, then not be able to play the game at all.
I just want to warn people not to install the latest NVIDIA update, unless you need it for the game it was intended for. Hopefully, NVIDIA will have another update soon, to fix this problem.
If, however, anyone has any other solutions to offer, I'm willing to try it...as long as it doesn't risk breaking the game or computer, worse then it already is.
