Keyboard doesn't work properly

So, I got a new laptop and installed Sims4 on it after not playing for quite a while on my old laptop.

But my keyboard has issues. In the Sims3 cam I can't use wasd to move around and , and . don't work for rotation. It is really annoying because it makes playing a real task and no fun at all.

I have disabled origin in Sims and I have repaired the game several times in origin.Nothing worked.

My keyboard works fine otherwise, it is, after all a brand new laptop. I can type in cheats and use , . to rotate stuff in build mode but not the camera.

I have read through quite a lot of forums now but no one seems to know the answer to my question. I had problems with my camera rotation before but I had blamed it on my old laptop that was just at its wits end because it was generally getting super slow... but I have more problems now with the new one.

@arya_droettnig Go into Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4, and remove options.ini. You'll need to reset all your game options, but hopefully the camera will work.

If not, try changing your keyboard to an English layout, just as an experiment. Even if you don't want to play like this going forward, it would be good to know whether it helped.

The only thing I can think you should do is move any mod files out of the Sims 4 folder and then delete the Sims 4 localthumbcache.package file and the game's cache folder (not the cachestr folder, just the cache folder.) After you delete them, use a new character as a test.

@mysterygamerori Okay, I can't find that file package nor can I find a cache folder, even with using the search function. I don't have any mods installed so sadly this doesn't help me. Thank you for trying though

@arya_droettnig Try searching for the Electronic Arts folder instead, it will be in there

@arya_droettnig What language keyboard do you have, and what layout are you using? Does it help to change to an English-language layout, or back and forth between English and another language?

If that doesn't help, please disable any other overlays you have running: Steam, Discord, etc.

@puzzlezaddict I have a Standard German qwertz keyboard and I occasionly use an Icelandic layout but never when I play. It has always worked on qwertz but now it doesn't

@puzzlezaddict Omg. Changing the keyboard to qwerty really worked. Thank you so much. I definetly did not think that it would be that easy.
Removing options.ini did not work for me btw.
