Laptop blue screened twice since last update, any reason why?

I tried to post about this earlier, but I can't find the post I made. I figured I'd make a new one to see if this one shows up. So, to explain the situation. Ever since the most recent update, my laptop has blue-screened twice. I've tried to Google why, but not a whole lot came up. I have mods installed, but I've used most of them for a while, and none of them have blue-screened my computer. I recently downloaded some CC, but I don't think that's the root cause of my crashes. I unchecked the "laptop mode" setting because it made my CC eyelashes look weird. I reduced the graphics to compensate for that (although I don't think it had much effect). My game, the EA App, and my computer are also updated.

Here are my computer specs for reference:

MSI GF63 Thin 11UC
Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11400H @ 2.70GHz 2.69 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

I included a screenshot of the BSOD logs from today, but I'm unsure if it provides any useful information or which error would be the crash. For anyone who might suggest it, I have done the "chkdsk /f" command already -- it didn't come up with any issues. Let me know if you need any additional information, and I'll do my best to answer. Thanks in advance for your responses and solutions!

Your post has been removed from the spam quarantine.

  • @gloomyearthling  The screenshot you've posted doesn't have enough information.  What would be helpful is the last couple crash dumps your system has.  Open a File Explorer window and enter this in the address bar:

    C:\Windows\Minidump

For the most recent two or three files, right-click and select Copy, then right-click the desktop and select Paste.  From there, you can zip them together, upload the .zip to a third-party site, and link it here.

Please also post a dxdiag, for reference.  You can attach it to a post.

  • Hello, sorry for the late reply. But as it turns out, Sims isn't crashing my computer! The minidump file stated there was an issue with a driver -- I posted about the issue to the Microsoft Forums, and someone was kind enough to take a look at the file. They suggested I uninstall and reinstall my GPU drivers to see if that fixes the issue. If not, then the issue is with MSI themselves -- the recent-ish Windows update was conflicting with their computer's CPU firmware or something like that.

@gloomyearthling  If Windows and the MSI firmware aren't getting along, I would expect MSI to fix it rather quickly, so keep an eye out for updates.  In case no one made it clear, BIOS versions and chipset drivers can be found on the Support page for the MSI laptop or motherboard you own.  Be absolutely sure you have exactly the right product number, especially in the case of a BIOS update.
