  • @Carmella002  What country are you in?  Inventory and prices can be very different from one country to the next.  And I understand you don't have a budget, but do you have a preference for a certain price range, or would you perhaps like to get the best laptop up to a certain point?  Please also list any other details that matter to you, for example screen size or keyboard layout.

in terms of requirements i’m looking for a laptop that will give me the smoothest gameplay on full graphics settings with Reshade and mods/cc.

id probably cap the price at 1k but i’m flexible

    for screen size i really like 1920 × 1080

and since it’ll only be for sims i only really need a standard keyboard

    I'm in the uk

@Carmella002  Since you want some extra power and your budget can accommodate it, I would suggest getting a laptop with an Nvidia RTX 4060.  It's significant overkill for Sims 4 by itself, but that gives you some overhead to account for ReShade and any high poly custom content you might install.  And options with the slower, but still sufficient, RTX 4050 are not much cheaper, so it's probably worth the extra £50-100, depending on the model.

At any rate, please look at these and let me know what you think:

These are the cheapest good-quality options I could find with an RTX 4060.  They're all a reasonable price, at least once you add the discount code to the last one, and they should all be equal in performance, plus or minus a few percentage points for how the manufacturers have tuned these models.  The first one does run somewhat loud under load, but it shouldn't be a problem if you wear headphones.  (And all standard gaming laptops are going to be a bit loud; it's just a matter of degree.)

If there are  any particular details you don't like about these, let me know what, and I can do a more targeted search.  And if you have more questions, about these or in general, please feel free to ask.

@Carmella002 You can't go wrong with either, pretty much the same. In my personal opinion I'd go with the HP one because of the better screen and CPU , of course I also recommend you to get a second opinion from a PC technician that you trust, if possible.

@Carmella002  These two laptops will run the game pretty much the same because the limiting factor almost all the time is the graphics card, at least in theory.  In practice, the GPU won't be maxed out running the game, even on ultra settings, but then neither will the CPU, and the GPU will have a higher workload, relatively speaking.  That's true whether or not you add ReShade.  I'm not saying the processor doesn't matter, only that it should have no problem keeping up with the demands Sims 4 places on it.

So what matters here is what you like better, for whatever reasons matter to you.  That could be anything from a note in a random review to aesthetics, and I can't tell you the best answer for you.

The two screens have the same resolution and brightness and almost the same refresh rate, close enough that you wouldn't notice a difference.  You might think one is subjectively better than another, and if you live close to a computer store, it could be worth looking at models like these in person to see whether you have a preference.  You wouldn't need to find exactly these configurations—the laptop manufacturers only make a couple screens each generation and reuse them for a wide variety of setups.  All you'd need to know is that you were looking at a 1920x1080, 300 nit screen that runs at 144 Hz (the LOQ) or 165 Hz (the Omen), and that the models had a 12th- or 13th-gen Intel processor (LOQ) or a 7000-series AMD processor (Omen).  If that sounds complicated, I promise it's something a computer store would be able to work with.

Anyway, there's no wrong answer here; it's just about what you like.
