Long time save file has massive delay on actions

Question

My wife has a long time save file on Sims that she loves to play. It is about 2 years old and was running fine, but now there is huge delay on almost every action which makes playing annoying. Characters standing idle before doing tasks, 10-30 second delay on switching characters ETC. She has no issues on new files, but this one has had a lot of effort into it and restarting is demoralizing. Is there a fix for this without deleting the file? I'm hesitant to try on my own because I've lost saves in sims 4 before mucking around with them.

Hey&nbsp;@TartSquirrel&nbsp;to start with I'd recommend removing all mods and custom content and then load the save file to see if you continue to have the issue.

I forgot to add, no mods were used on this file. Pure vanilla.

In that case&nbsp;@TartSquirrel&nbsp;it can happen that the bigger your save gets the more issues you see. If the game has been growing for years then it may be a case that there is too much going on, if you check for homeless Sims removing them from the game can help.

@TartSquirrel&nbsp; How large is this save file, in MB?&nbsp; You can see it in Documents &gt; Electronic Arts &gt; The Sims 4 &gt; saves.&nbsp; How much RAM does the game use when you've loaded this save?&nbsp; The value will show up in the Task Manager.

For good measure, please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
