Lost All Game Progress Sims 4

My game wouldn't load as I had to download the legacy addition for sims 4. Finally figured out how to sort this issue. I then loaded my game and all the packs have reinstalled like I just purchased them, I then noticed all my previous game progress is lost. ive read the forum about switching from the normal sims 4 to the legacy additon and it says all files will be transferred, but all my game progress is lost. It also says im now playing on a 32bit and i can change this on origin. I switched to ea app and cant figure out how to change the bit from there, please someone help me get my progress back ☹️

  • @elliemisson  There's no official way within the EA App to change back and forth between the standard version of Sims 4 and the Legacy Edition.  So you'll need to reinstall Origin:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin-Client-Web-Technical/Downloading-and-installing-Origin-Windows-and-Mac/m-p/11915666

Open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, select Game Properties > Advanced Launch Options, and choose 64-bit from the dropdown menu.  Then confirm you're running the standard version: open the Task Manager and you'll see 64-bit or 32-bit next to the Sims 4 entry.  Make sure you're in detailed mode.

If you can't run the 64-bit version of Sims 4, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

    https://help.ea.com/en/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/

If you're running the game in 64-bit but your saves are still missing, please let me know whether OneDrive is running (even if you don't use it) and how full it is.

    UPDATE

I've redownloaded origin and had to update the game to change it to a 64bit instead of 32bit legacy addition. I then logged back into my OneDrive and launch the game after waiting a few mins.

When I launched it, my saved game was back!! BUT from a month ago, its better than nothing!

@elliemisson  That's good to hear.  If you want to look for newer saves, try searching your computer.  Open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, and enter Slot_ in the search field in the upper-right corner.  This should turn up any saves stored internally (as opposed to in OneDrive).  If you find some, you can move them to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves, and they should show up provided they're in the correct format.

As an aside, I'd suggest disabling OneDrive again, or at least not allowing it to sync the contents of Documents.  If your internal drive gets full, OneDrive may store your Sims 4 data only in the cloud, where the game can't find it.  This purportedly space-saving measure has made a number of players' saves disappear over the years.

Before you change any OneDrive settings, make a backup copy of the Sims 4 user folder and store it somewhere else, ideally on an external drive or USB stick, but even the Downloads folder would work in a pinch since OneDrive doesn't sync it.  Then you can restore this folder if OneDrive removes the original from your computer, as sometimes happens when it's told to stop syncing.
