Lost all my houses

So, I opened up my game this morning to find that all my houses (like the literal physical buildings) had all been reset to the original ones from when I just had base game.  I only have one pack (Island Living), which acted like I had just bought it when I booted up the game where it showed like the description.  However, my households (the sims themselves) are all intact and where I left them.  They have all their skills and relationships and whatnot.  When I click on a household however, it just has an empty lot, but if I exit out, it shows that the default home is there.  I have never had this issue, but I think it might have to do with the new update from a couple days ago.

Has this happened to anyone?

Do you have any Mods or CC? If so move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game.

If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.

If you saved in this condition the changes are permanent.

  • I don't have mods or CC (mainly bc I'm scared of it bloating my game and making it more finicky), but I did accidentally save it, so I do suppose that now this is permanent.  As well I have just found that my library was completely erased as well, which only adds to how bizarre this is.

  • @jpkarlsen it does, kind of.  I obviously have now messed it up beyond repair (I kind of gave up and went back and now have saved several times), but I appreciate your help.
