Moved Data not Showing up in Game

It's nearly 3:00 AM. I've been spending HOURS and HOURS trying to move my Sims 4 data over to my new computer.  I figured out I needed to NOT transfer over Recorded videos. I moved those tons of GBs over to Onedrive, and there they will sit. So now I'm just trying to move over solely Game data: Saves and mods and cc.

The problem is nothing is showing up in the game.

First, I backed up and moved over The Sims 4 folder. That didn't work, so I copied over the Electronic Arts folder. Here is what I did, and where I'm at now.

1. Uploaded Electronic Arts folder from Documents into OneDrive

2. Moved Electronic Arts folder (which includes all my game data) over from Onedrive to Documents
**This was to the local hard drive - C://Users/(my username)/Documents

 - I double checked to make sure everything was there, exactly as it looked on my old PC, and it was.

3. Opened the game, and there was, nothing there. Didn't bring up my latest save, and my mods and cc are all missing.

I installed the game via the EA app (I think this replaced Origin). I also uninstalled and reinstalled in between moving and re-moving files.

I started a new game, went to a new household and then saved. That didn't help either. I then deleted the Electronic Arts folder from Documents and opened TS4 again. It brought up the file I just saved (of the new/unknown household I just started a test game with. I then looked and noticed that my Documents folder is completely empty (new computer, there's nothing there, Sims or non-Sims related.

SO - the TS$ game data must be saving somewhere else. Any ideas why or where? Where do I move all of my game data files to?

Thank you!

  • @MomRushTX I've met other people where the game would save to "public" documents instead of "user". The easiest way to find out is to search your computer for "saves" and see which folders it returns. Then see what the path of the folder is.

    I got it working!!

I did the search for Saves - of course I had a few of them show up since I'd tried several times to copy things over. But I finally found out that it was saving all the current info (from the game) in Onedrive! I know there are messages in here about that, so I tried to look up those and figure out how to get it to save locally to this PC. Couldn't get that to work, so I finally just accepted it was going to save all the info to my Onedrive. Which is perfectly fine with me because I've got PLENTY of storage space in there.

I copied over all my old data to that location where it was saving current game info. AND it works - all my saves, data, mods, all there.

I've been playing for a little while and I have to say - MAJOR improvement! HUGE!  And I have shadows now! LOL Never saw those before on the other computer. 🙂 Very cool (and kind of annoying at the same time) LOL But most importantly, NO LAG! It takes only seconds to travel (before took several to many minutes. I could get up and fix something to eat or go to the bathroom and it would still be transitioning).

Thank you so much everyone for all your help!
