My cats' paws have disappeared!

Product: The Sims 4
PlatformPC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Costant (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.67.45.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All
What happens when the bug occurs? Both my cats' paws have disappeared after I took them to the vet for neutering and spaying. When it happened to my first cat I thought it had something to do with how he got stuck on the landing of the house once and I had to debug in build mode, but it also happened to my second cat after I got her spayed and I noticed a couple of other animals in the clinic with the same problem.
What do you expect to see? Befooted (befeeted?) pets.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Some, but none I expect to interfere with pets. Only pet related mod is Control Your Pets, but I installed this after the problem had already occured.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made: Updated my game with the new October 2020 update. My Cats & Dogs expansion is also fairly new and these are my first pets, so I am not certain whether it would have occured before I made the update.

I have tried debugging the pets + repairing the game and all expansions/game packs/stuff packs in Origin. I also tried modifying them in CAS (where the feet are still visible) to see if that would reset them in live mode, but it didn't work.

    Hey, thanks for the reply!

It's happening to all animals on all surfaces, both indoors and outdoors, whether they are lying down or standing up (see attachment). It happens in both new and saved games, to played pets and NPCs, in all locations, both before and after travel.

What I do know now is that I was dead wrong about it not being mod or cc related, as the problem did go away when I temporarily removed my entire mods folder. Any tips on how I may narrow it down? If not, I'll go with the 50/50 method 🙂 I don't have any mods or cc items directly related to pets so I can't think of an easy way to identify the culprit.

EDIT: Did 50/50 and identified the problem. No more, uh, footloose pets!

  • OP here, have added several pets to the game and they all have this issue even without any trip to the vet first. They show up without paws straight out of CAS. I've googled it and no one else seems to have encountered this issue? Very strange.
  • @fooshiablix  It looks to me like your cats do have their paws, but they're standing slightly underneath a given surface rather than on top of it.  Does this still happen outside?  What about in a new house?  You don't need to save your progress; just see what happens if the household moves through the phone, and if that doesn't help, try moving them through Map View.

Please also test in a new save, for comparison.

@fooshiablix  The 50/50 method was probably your best bet: if there wasn't an obvious culprit, guessing one or two mods at a time likely would have taken longer.

Which mod was it?  Naming it is fine, as long as it's not adult-themed; in that case, you could just name the creator, and people would probably know.

And yeah, those last two screenshots are pretty disturbing.

@puzzlezaddict Unfortunately I don't remember the exact name of it as the file was the initials of the mod and a number that may have been the version number (at this point I have so much cc it's hard to keep track haha), but if anyone's running a mod that's supposed to allow you to edit and tag animations and poses (not sure if it works, I hadn't gotten that far yet), keep an eye out.

PS. Thanks again, this is alreayd the second time you've come to my aid in the short time I've been playing 🙂

@fooshiablix  Good to know, thanks.  An animation/pose mod is probably specific enough to help others with the same issue, since most people only use a couple of those at most.
