Hey, no problem! It says that my game is installed in Program Files / EA Games / The Sims 4.

Also, what I did was open the Documents folder > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and removed the The Sims 4 folder and tried to open the game, but it didn't work. I don't know if maybe I did it wrong, I don't think I would even know the difference between Documents and Program Files, but I did open the Documents folder.

  • @Ulorens  Please try playing in a new admin Windows account.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  (Just keep declining until you can proceed without one.)  You'll be able to launch Sims 4 without reinstalling anything, but your saves and other user content won't be available.  That's fine for the purposes of this test and can be addressed later if necessary.

If you get another crash, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash, specifically in the new account.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

  • @sapphicdayLike another comment I saw on another post, if you've been playing the sims long enough and have had no problems since the update, it's most likely not your PC's fault but the game itself. They're updating a lot and putting a lot of new stuff that the game has became unplayable now, not surprising a lot of people are having these type of problems.

Ok, I played in a new admin account and it didn't crash at all!

  • @Ulorens  That's great, it means that the problem is contained to your main Windows account.  Do you want to continue troubleshooting in your main account?  If so, please let me know what antivirus you use, and whether OneDrive is running, even if you never use it.

Yes, I would like to continue troubleshooting in my main account, please. My antivirus is McAfee and it seems that my OneDrive is running and synced. The only thing that I noticed is that my Windows account is asking me to sign in to get a better access for apps. I haven't been able to do it yet because the email listed is my father's and I need access to the pin sent to his email to sing in. Does that have any impact on the game?

  • @Ulorens  Yes, that could absolutely have an effect on the game.  The next question here is the location of the Documents directory in your main account.  (Your computer has several Documents folders, but only one directory per account.)  To find it, search in Windows for Command Prompt, open it, and enter this command:

reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"

Please post the result here.  You can write [username] instead of your actual username if you want, but please leave the rest intact.

Hi! I'm so sorry for the long wait, I've been a bit busy lately. I did as you said and this is what I got:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
    Personal REG_SZ C:\Users\beatr\OneDrive\Documentos

  • @Ulorens  OneDrive may well be the issue here.  Try getting rid of it, or at least moving your Documents directory out of OneDrive.  Here's how:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/PC/CURRENT-ISSUE-Sims-4-saves-user-content-disappearing-PC/m-p/12475370#Remove

There are a couple of approaches here, one of which is to force the change with a registry edit, so don't worry if the first option doesn't help or isn't available.  It's best to use the first option if you can though.
