Solved

My game won't connect to the internet.

My game won't work with my Wi-Fi. Every time I open it, I get the Sims Delivery Error Code 00000008:0000000000000000, and the gallery won't work either. I don't know what to do. None of the tips on here seem to be working, and I really don't want to give up the game. It's already been a few months with this issue, and I've made many intermittent attempts to fix it to no avail. It has to be something on my laptop (it worked fine for months but started doing this in the fall) because I've tried my old one and it works there.

There is something wrong with the EA app as well, but I'm not sure if it's connected. To the right where my profile picture is, it always says that I'm offline and/or that the connection failed.

  • @LycorisII  Please clear Windows temp files:

    • Click Windows key-R, and a run box will appear in the lower-left corner of the screen.
    • In the new window, type or copy & paste "%temp%" (without the quotes), and enter.
    • Now your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Temp folder.  Delete all files and folders inside.
    • If some files or folders can't be deleted, restart your computer (a real restart, not sleep/wake) and try again.

Additionally, before trying again to open the EA App, clean-uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine).  Use the Intensive scanning method when asked.  Restart your computer and download a fresh copy of the App installer from here:

    https://www.ea.com/ea-app#downloads

Run it as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as adminnistrator."  Then open Sims 4 and try to connect.

  • @LycorisII  Try disabling the Sims Delivery feature entirely.  There's no current SDX content, so you wouldn't be missing out.  The fact that you're getting an error suggests that the problem is the game looking for an update, as in, doing so breaks the connection, perhaps causing your antivirus or firewall to block Sims 4 altogether.

You can launch the game while offline and disable the feature (Options > Game Options > Sims Delivery), then go back online and see whether the Gallery works.

Hi, that didn't work, I'm afraid. It has been doing it for months regardless of whether there is an SDX drop or not.

One thing I have been noticing though is that it doesn't seem to have that problem if I switch to my phone's internet. But that isn't really a solution since I won't have any internet left when I'm out and about.

Only this computer is affected by this problem and only this app. All the other things work with my internet but not the game.

@LycorisII  Try powercycling your router.  If that doesn't make a difference, it's possible your internet provider has blocked access.  The fact that you can connect when using your phone suggests that the router or the ISP is the problem here.

You say disabling SDX updates doesn't help, but does it at least get rid of the error message in the upper-right corner of the screen?

Hi again. Sadly, the power cycling didn't work. I don't really get why I can play the game on other computers using the same internet but not on my own...

The error message doesn't automatically show up on start when Sims Delivery is disabled.

HI! I'm happy to report that as of now, both the EA App and The Sims 4 connect to the internet. It seems the problems were connected after all.

I'm not 100% sure what solved it, but I did follow your instructions, and I did it in combination with another thing I found here (picture below). So I guess what solved it was either revo, temp files or completely disabling the VPN in the task manager.

Either way, I'm over the moon. I really hope this works now and that it doesn't come back. I've been having problems since September.

Thank you so much for your help. I don't know anything about computers so it was really nice and helpful. I was ready to give up. 🙂

@LycorisII  I'm so glad to hear it, and thanks for letting me know about the VPN as well.  It could definitely cause Sims 4 issues even when it appears to be behaving in every other context.
