I'm having the same problem. I claimed the game on Epic for free just because, no particular reason. I did NOT install it from Epic since I already had it installed from EA. Next day I proceed to open Sims 4 from EA like usual and it automatically opens up Epic too and starts the game from there on his own. I get it probably happened because my EA and Epic accounts are linked (I need that for some other EA games that I bought on Epic) but I didn't do anything at all to prompt this switch and it's just annoying that I now have Epic running uselessly.

You can try contacting Epic and ask them to remove it.
