My household is missing after installing bundle??

I'm really at lost at words. My dad got me a bundle deal for sims 4 on my birthday. And I play the game to check it out and I find out one of my household's missing?

Like, its so weird.. I got to the apartment they live in and the apartment is fine but...my sims who live there are gone?? And the preview of the two is just a blinking blue box like a glitch of some sort. I uploaded a picture of it as well. And can't even click the play button to get into the apartment.

I tried restarting my laptop, tried un installing sims4 and re installing it after making a backup. nothing works.

I contacted support about this. I was told to uninstall sims 4 and re install it while re installing each expansion by its release date. didn't work. and they gave me these steps:

Flush Your DNS:

1. Hold down the Windows Key and press X
2. Click Command Prompt (Admin).
3. When the command prompt opens, type ipconfig/flushdns and press Enter.
4. Type ipconfig /registerdns and press Enter.
5. Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.
6. Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.
7. Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
8. Reboot your computer.

Perform a cleanboot

1.Open the Start menu and search for msconfig.
2.Click on System Configuration.
3.Click the Services tab.
4.Check the box to Hide all Microsoft Services, then click the Disable All button.
5.Click on the Startup tab, then click on Open Task Manager.
-It can take a few seconds for the Task Manager list to load.
6.Click each of the Startup programs in the list then click the Disable button.
7.Close the Task Manager window.
8.Click OK on the System Configuration window to save your changes, then restart your computer.

After doing these troubleshooting, please login to Origin and right click on your game and choose the game repair option.

1-Please login to origin.
2-And go to my games library.
3-Right click on the Sims 4 tile, and repair the game.

And yet THIS still didn't work. My sims family is gone with a blinking blue box replacing where I would see my sims...and I can't even enjoy my expansion properly knowing this. It's really frustrating and I'm not sure what to do to get them back. So please help.

Thanks.

You have to close the game if you are doing something in the game folder.
Then right-click on the game folder and select "change name"

Go to Documents/ElectronicArts - inside will be The Sims4 folder
Step 1. Rename The Sims4 folder to "The Sims4 old"
Step 2. Fix the game in Origin
    Origin/ My games library - right-click on TS4 - option "Repair game"
You have to wait until Origin will fix all packs, not only the base game.
Step 3. Turn on the game - a new game folder will be created and you will have two - one old, one new
Step 4. Check if you still have this problem in the newly created game folder. Start a new game with random sims, play by 5 minutes save and quit. Go to this save and check if it is working properly.
    If the problem disappeared
Step 5. Delete in the new game folder following folders:
    "saves" and Tray.
Step 6. Go to "The Sims 4 old" folder and copy - your "saves " folder.
Step. 7. Paste this folder in a newly created game folder.
Step 8. Do the same with Tray folder and TrayDeleteItems file
If you don't have mods and CC skip next step
Step 9. Check if there are newly updated version mods you are using.
Then copy and paste your mods and CC from the old mods folder to the new one. First copy the scripts mods every time checking if the game is working properly. If you have a lot of CC's try 50/50 method ( divide your CC into smaller batches for example 50 pieces in one subfolder and check these subfolders one by one)
Step. 10. Launch the game and check if this problem disappeared.
The last step - delete The Sims4 old folder.
Your saves and library will be not changed or damaged

You are playing now in this new folder. Your old saves and library are left in the "old folder". When you will make step 10 you will have all your old saves and library back plus you will have new, not corrupted configurations files.

Another thing that I know now - thanks to helper jpkarlsen - that it known issue outdated mod related

The only way to solve it is to find a working save backup.
