My PC crashes after 10-20 minutes of gaming

When I run my save (which is quite old), the game AND my PC crash after 10-20 minutes of play. I tried to play it without mods but the bug persists. The bug does not appear on other saves. I checked DirectX9 in the settings and after 2 days of gaming, the problem returned.

I have an Nvidia Gforce RTX 3060

I carried out several tests and here are my results:

-My PC crashed after 10 minutes of gaming, then I checked DirectX9 and my PC (+gaming) now crashes every 20 minutes or so

-I tried to play on a newly created game and the problem does not seem to recur.

-My problem is exclusive to Sims4

-If I save just before the crash is supposed to happen, it looks like it resets the timer before another crash

-This problem happened since the Life & Death update

If you have any ideas because I'm REALLY desperate. THANKS

For those who ask, here is my DxDiag:

[EDIT]

I created a new folder THE SIMS 4 and after playing the game for 15 minutes, the screen turned white with the game continuing to run in the background. Impossible to open a page and display it, the screen remained stuck in white and I had to shut down my PC manually.

  • capitaine360  Thanks for the dxdiag.  It lists some BSODs that are related to the graphics driver, and there are other driver crashes as well, plus the driver is implicated in the Sims 4 crashes.  So please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

If you still have this problem after reinstalling the driver, please post a new dxdiag.  Please do go back to DirectX 11 mode, which should work fine; if it doesn't, that's important information by itself.

  • capitaine360  If you'd like, I can take a look at the crash dumps from the BSODs to see whether anything stands out.  Open a File Explorer window, enter this in the address bar:

    C:\Windows\Minidump

and you'll see a number of dump files.  For the newest three, right-click the files and select Copy, then right-click your desktop and Paste.  From there, zip the files together, upload the .zip to a free filesharing site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.), and link it here.

Please also post a new dxdiag.

Separately, let me know if you're able to borrow another graphics card to test with, perhaps from a friend or family member.  That's an easy way to find out whether the problem is the GPU or something else about your system.

  • Capitainetim34  You can't upload a crash dump on this site; that's why I said upload it to a third-party filesharing site.  The dxdiag should be fine to attach though.

Hello, 2 days ago I sent you the xdiag and the minidumb by google drive, did you find anything? I confess to you that you are my only hope. 😊

capitaine360  I saved the link but am unfortunately away from my Windows PC with its various tools.  (I have my laptop, but it's a Mac and can't run these tools.)  I will try to find time soon, but it's not easy due to life circumstances.  I haven't forgotten about you though, I promise.

  • Hello, I come to you to tell you that my problem still persists! I used DDU and reset the game to Direct X11 but my PC still crashed followed by a restart. It even crashed once when I was NOT on the sims! It's official, I no longer have any solution and I don't think we can solve my problem.

  • Hello, I have been trying to send the dxdiag and the drive with the minidumps for 30 minutes but this tells me that my message contains HTML code. I would like to know how to do it?

  • capitaine360  That's definitely interesting, and I'd like to go over the new crash dump too when I have time, and the opportunity... which is not something I can find right now.  I'm not trying to leave you hanging; it's just that there's a lot going on.

Hello, were you able to take the time to consult my minidumps?? In the meantime (for 6 days now) I installed "who crashed" and after several analyzes, it seems that my problem is a link with an error named "DPC WATCHDOGS VIOLATION". I have already done all sorts of things like updating all my drivers with CC cleaner and Driver Easy. I have uninstalled the graphics card several times and then reinstalled it. I went into the registry editor to add some sort of longer response time for a driver. "TDL Delay" or something like that. The recent update of the sims did not correct my problem either. I ran scans of the hard drive and my RAM. Used CDM for all kinds of "scanow" repairs etc... I still don't know what to do other than reinstall windows complement which doesn't even guarantee that my problem will be corrected. I also upgraded to Windows 11 this week.
