my screen flickers everytime I try to open the sims 4

So I bought the game one day and when I started the game it kept flickering/glitching. I changed about the graphics settings and finally got it to work. The next day I went on again and the glitching was back - but the graphics were the same as the day before so changing them made no difference. I then changed to the package for older laptops (even though my laptop is not old) and it worked and I thought that was it sorted but sadly, the glitching returned once again the next day I went to play the game

any advice for this matter?

there is no history on the game now - I have tried moving the mods already and renaming the old file

I have changed my graphics setting to everything it could have possibly been

I have turned on vsync - doesn't make a difference

I have changed edge scrolling/smoothing and it doesn't make a difference either.

I am beginning to get really annoyed with this matter as it shouldn't be this difficult to download a game..
