You don't actually have to have the pack to get the trait.
They always release a patch before releasing a game pack. Sometimes these "patches" will contain new items or game functionality.
A good example is ECO Lifestyles. A patch came out a week before it was released. The patch contained among other things, a re-design (although a BROKEN redesign) of the household billing system. This "updated" billing system was provided to everyone who has the base game. You don't need ECO to take advantage of the new billing system.
Likely the same thing happened with that sim trait. Probably whichever pack came out earliest, City Living I think, They probably released a patch a week before that included that trait. You probably got it for free in a patch that came out before one of those packs.

@IrisuChan Did you use create a story to create the Sim ?- IrisuChan6 years agoNew Ace
@Psychotps I think city living was released ages ago? I only started actively playing this year, since a few weeks and I created this sim a few weeks ago as well. Maybe 3 months ago at most, so it would have to be a recent patch. I had the base game, cats&dogs and romantic garden stuff since 2018 I believe, but all other packs I listed in my earlier post I got in the last 3 months.
@crinrict I am not familiar with "create a story" (not sure what this is). I just created the sim from scratch in create a sim, I selected the 3 traits bookworm, self assured and loves outdoors and that's it. I played with that family, later I created more people in the neighborhood (all from create a sim). Later when I checked back on this one I saw the extra trait.
By the way, this is my sims' aspiration progress. I really haven't played much with her yet. I assume "angler's tranquility" that's mentioned in this screenshot is the reward trait for completing the angling ace aspiration, just like "home turf" is also an award trait for something?
- crinrict6 years agoHero+@IrisuChan it's when you create a Sim in CAS at the beginning you are asked if you want to create from scratch or if you want the game create a character for you buy answering some questions.
