My Sims 4 game keeps crashing before the main menu opens

As the title states, I am unable to load the game beyond the plumbob loading screen prior to the main menu (The one where I can select a new game, to load my game, so on so forth- just to clarify!).

I have already tried restarting my PC (windows), repairing the game through the EA app, removing all of my mods, and checking to see if any of my drivers need an update, but none of these seem to have been the solution.

I believe the txt file attached is needed to find out the error, but if there is anything else that I need for this, please let me know! I desperately need some help

  • YeeFxckingHaw  Please remove your saves folder from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and try to load the game.  If it works, create a new save; no need to spend much time on it.  Save your progress, quit, and move your old saves from the old folder to the new one.  Make sure to renumber the newest save, that you just created, if it conflicts with one of your older saves.

Try again to load the game, and if you can get to the Main Menu, use Load Game to select an older save and play it.  If the save is fine, you can continue playing it and save your progress; it may work again going forward.

I have done this and i narrowed my issue down to one save file. my current save file that i am playing will just crash the game while its loading everytime. just strated happening after the update. no mods

  • SimsLinaT  To be clear, if you load this save using Load Game, and choose a different household, does it still crash?  Or can you not load the game if this save is present at all, regardless of whether you've created a newer save (and it's still present)?

EA is also looking for saves in the related bug report, if you're willing to share.  Instructions are linked here:

I tried this method. For me, the game does not load at all if my latest game save is present. Despite creating a new save.

I also tried changing my most recent save ending in “.ver0” to a “.save” file. The change worked in the folder, but again.. when launching the game, it crashed. I should note, when I was adding save files back one by one to see which one is corrupted, all the .ver files launched the game. As soon as it was converted to a .save file, the game crashed.

I tried everything and it is still failed to load. My game crashes with my old save files even when i did everything i saw. Nothing helped me, and i am stuck. My mods didn't even show up when i got into the main menu with the new save file.

Guys it worked for me only when i did this specific thing :
    1. You remove your saves
    2. Load the game again and play a little until it creates a new save, change the end to another number so that it won't be the same as any of your olders saves
    3. Activate the CC in the settings ! Usually when there is an update it tells you that your cc where deactivated and that you need to activate them again the settings. You just have to do this.
    4. Put your saves again in the folder
    5. Load the game again, play your save and it should work !

So this time around, I started the game with a whole new save. Played with the new save for about 2 mins and then saved&quit the game. I then added ONLY my broken save, and had my usual mods in my game. It loaded to the main menu and I enabled CC. And i was able to load into my save and it seems to be working.

I had done the same thing yesterday but WITHOUT enabling mods and it would crash. This seems to be the only difference that worked for me. Idk why this is working now, and idk if i should put my old save folder in cuz i think it’ll just crash again. I will try it and see what happens.puzzlezaddict
