Mystery crashing :(

Hiya,

I've been trying to play the Sims 4 recently and after 15-20 mins, the game crashes. Screen freezes, no blue screen or anything, just everything frozen, sometimes my pc gets stuck making a horrendous noise too. I have 'Speccy' software installed and I have tried having that open while I play to see if the temperature of any hardware is getting to high, my CPU gets to about 60-65°C when it crashes. Graphics card isn't getting that hot. I've checked for any driver updates, everything is up to date including windows.

I have had the same issue with other games like For The King and Planet Zoo, but all the other games I play are absolutely fine, games like Elden Ring run with no issue so I'm struggling to figure out the issue.

My specs are:

CPU - Intel i7 9700K

Cooling - Coffee Lake 14nm

Ram - 16GB Dual Channel 1066Mhz

Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070

Storage - 465GB SSD

It's SO frustrating! TIA for any advice or solutions!!!!

x

  • fionam96  Please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
