New computer, game is now unplayable due to gliches.

Hello! Im new to this so Im not quite sure if im doing this right lol

A few days ago I was given a used computer which was supposed to be more powerful than my old one. My S/O was tasked with the job of transfering everything over from my old laptop to this new one. Since the transfer of everything my game has been compleatly bug riddled and basically unplayable. Every time I try to rotate or click on something the game just glitches back and forth. Same when I try to exit or save the game. I went through the Deaderpool support and they had me do a handful of things, but in the end they reffered me here. I'm not the best with computer so I'm not quite sure what I did or what it was supposed to do. I've taken out all mods and custom content from my game and even tried wth a brand new save, yet the glitches are still happening. I have videos of the glitches, but they arent the best quality and I'm not quite sure how to upload them here.

If anyone know what is going on or what I could do I would deeply appreciate the help.

Thank you!

  • Hello, would you be willing to share your current computer specs with us?

To do so, go to your “Windows” key on the keyboard and hit the letter “r” key at the same time. These two keys will bring up a small window in the lower left corner of your computer screen reading “dxdiag.” Select “Ok” at the lower left that screen. Then when another bigger window comes up on your screen, select the "Save All Information" tab in the lower left corner of the screen. This will bring up a save screen for you to choose where to save that file. Select to place it on your desktop. Then do a regular “reply”, not a quick reply back to us and you will see the attachment tool which looks like a paperclip just below the screen where you would type and it will read “Choose File.” From there just select the dxdiag file and upload it.

From there Crinrict will be able to further assist you.

@wasikm007 The reason we need this information is to see if your laptop is over taxed with everything you transferred over from your old laptop.

Also, do you have just the basegame or do you have other EA DLC like seasons, cats and dogs, etc.

When you removed your mods folder, did you also delete the localthumbcache.package and the avatarcache.package files from your Sims 4 folder as well? Whenever you remove your Mods folder or any contents within that folder, it is best to remove these cache files as well before re-entering the game, as they store memory of having them in your game.

  • @kaylynbrundage  What all was transferred from the old computer to the new one?  If for example the Sims 4 user folder was moved, please rename it to allow the game to generate a new folder.  This won't delete any of your files but will prevent the game from reading them, as in, you can test with completely fresh user data.  Let me know what problems, if any, you see in this new folder.

I would like to see a dxdiag as well; you can attach one to a reply.
