No death animations for dying sims

So I have recently jumped back into Sims 4 and to be short and to the point, I can't complete my Public  Enemy aspiration because my sim can't see other sims die. The other sims get into the position to die (in this case old age) and when they do *poof* urn. No death animation, no reaper, no nothing- just urn appearing next to my sim's feet- and I've tested this with and with-out mods and on multiple sims and it happens every time for every death with-out remedy and it's making me upset because there doesn't appear to be any fixes from what I've seem searching.
