No sound while playing The Sims 4 since game update and it is also crashing

Hi!

My gameplay runs smooth except there is no sound at all, plus the occasional freezing and crashing due to this new game update.

The only mods I have are MCCC and WonderfulWhims, but nothing else. I don't use CC in my game either. any clues on how to fix this?
