NPC babies born at hospital disappear from game

My sim is in the doctor career and needs to deliver a baby to advance. The first time around, Anaya Jang came in pregnant to the doctor clinic and the delivery went fine, but when my sim went to visit their household later, there is no evidence of a baby being born. There's no baby in the family tree, no bassinet, no baby in Anaya's contacts - the only thing different is her having "new baby" happy moodlet for 2 days.

I restarted my game to an earlier save to see if the problem would happen again, and this time a randomly generated pregnant townie came in and the delivery went fine again, but when I went to manage worlds and found them, the issue was still there - no baby or evidence of a baby, except for the "new baby" happy moodlet. 

This is really confusing since I've previously had another sim in the doctor career long ago (like over a year ago) deliver a baby to advance their career, and the baby still exists fine in my world. I usually have aging off, which I had for the first Anaya pregnancy, but I turned it off for the random townie pregnancy in case that was a conflict (the same issue happened anyway). I don't have any mods or CC, and I repaired my game through Origin after the first disappearing baby, but to no avail. I can't figure out why the babies being born at the hospital seem to disappear entirely from the game.
