Object placement

I was playing the Sims 4 on my PC and placing Baby Yoda around my house and it would go right up against the wall. I played for about an hour or two and then signed out. I logged in about 1 hour later to finish my project because I was already halfway in but it wouldn't let me place them against the wall anymore. It was very strange. If anyone has ever had this problem or has any ideas please help. I was really annoyed because it changes my project completely and I can't figure out how to get it back to its original state. I attached pictures below showing the glitch.

  • @onesparkle24 When you were originally placing the statues dit you have the cheat "bb.moveobjects on" active? If so you will need to re-activate it again when re-entering the lot. Even if you were not using this cheat I would give it a try:

In build mode in your lot press "Ctrl + Shift + C" and press enter. this will open the cheats window in the upper left corner. Next click inside the box and type in "bb.moveobjects on" without the quotation marks and press enter. Now you should be able to move and place objects with less restrictions. To disable the cheat enter "bb.moveobjects off" and press enter.

@onesparkle24 Does that go for all walls ? Only certain houses ? What kind of objects are we talking ?

Have you tried repairing your game through Origin yet ?
  • @SheriGR I've tried that already but the grid is a bunch of squares and inside those squares is 4 tiny squares. I'm trying to get them in those tiny squares but instead, it is now telling me that I can only put them in the middle of the big squares. the cheat is only letting me put them in the wall instead of those tiny squares

@onesparkle24 So you tried the MOO cheat I mentioned?

Do you have Mods/CC (or have you ever had them in this game). If you do one or more of them could be blocking your ability to move the statues in the way you did originally.

If you do please remove them in this process and try the troubleshooting as described below. (If you don't have Mods or CC, just skip the part about removing the Mods folder, but still delete the cache files mentioned and run the repair.) If you ever had Mods or CC in the past then do the steps as if you have them currently (removing the Mods folder), as there could be damage that has remained after you removed them.

    • Exit your game then exit Origin. Please drag the Mods folder from your 'The Sims 4' folder onto your desktop (for future reference) then delete the localthumbnailcache.package file in your 'The Sims 4' folder. Also delete any other folders in the 'Sims 4' folder with word cache in the name. (When you restart the game it will automatically create a new Mods folder.)
    • Next please run a game repair [ Open Origin, click 'Game Library' then right-click Sims 4 > Repair Game ]. Make sure to let it run until it has completed all repairs (it will do the base-game first, then run through each of your expansions/packs). After that, please see if the issue has stopped.

If it was Mods/CC: If this fixes the issue I would recommend that you check with the Mod and CC creators to see if there are any known issues with their Mod/CC clashing with the recent update and if so do they have an updated Mod/CC that will address the changes in the game's code from the update. You can then re-add your updated Mods/CC one at a time to see if one was conflicting with the function/causing the glitch - but do not re-add the old config file from the old mods folder, as it is possible for it to have become corrupted also.

  • @SheriGR It sadly did not work and I've kind of given up but thank you for your help with trying to fix this. I appreciate it.
  • @crinrict I've attached pictures with my post but I've tried everything that I have found in my search online but nothing worked including repairing the game.

@onesparkle24 I'm merging your threads as you made multiple.

I'm not sure this is a bug but I don't have any time to look into this further today.

Maybe @SheriGR has some more ideas.

@onesparkle24 A few things more you could try:

    • Save the lot to your library then place it in a new lot and try there.
    • (Bear with me - this is modified a bit from my previous instructions - please re-try this...)
Press "Ctrl + Shift + C" and press enter. This will open the cheats window in the upper left corner. Next click inside the box and type in "bb.moveobjects on" without the quotation marks and press enter. You should get the message "MoveObjects cheat is on". Now you should be able to move and place objects with less restrictions. Hold the "Alt" key and drag the item to fine tune some placements. Press To disable the cheat enter "bb.moveobjects off" and press enter.

If neither of the above works please try the following in this order:

    • Exit your game and Origin.
    • Move your 'The Sims 4' folder ( Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 ) to your desktop. (Save this "The Sims 4" folder for reference.)
    • Then start the game, and a new 'The Sims 4' folder will be created by the game.
    • Exit your game and Origin.
    • Now re-add a copy of the 'options.ini', 'screenshots' folder, 'saves' folder, and 'tray' folder from the "The Sims 4" folder on your desktop into your new "The Sims 4" folder ( Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 ). Replace/overwrite the newly generated files/ folders with the old files/folders from the desktop "The Sims 4" folder.

Now see if the issue is gone. Please let us know how it goes.
