Packs disappeared after the 1.9.129.1030 update

Operating system: Windows 10 (64-bit)

Platform: Steam (some packs owned on Origin)

On the 31st of October, I played The Sims 4 for the first time in months. Problem is, most of my packs disappeared. I got a notification saying I needed to restart the game to reinstall them, but I've opened and closed the game several times since then and nothing happened.

These are the packs I own:

  • All expansions except High School Years
  • All game packs except Dine Out, StrangerVille, Journey to Batuu, and My Wedding Stories
  • Movie Hangout, Romantic Garden, Kids Room, Backyard, Laundry Day, Toddler, Moschino, Tiny Living, Nifty Knitting, and Paranormal Stuff
  • Little Campers Kit
  • Holiday Celebration Pack
  • Of these, I downloaded the following through Origin: Get to Work, Kids Room Stuff, Movie Hangout Stuff, Jungle Adventure, Realm of Magic, and Eco Lifestyle.

At first, only the earliest packs I owned appeared — Get to Work, Get Together, City Living, Outdoor Retreat, Spa Day, Movie Hangout, Romantic Garden, Kids Room, Backyard, and Holiday. I tried fixing the issue by uninstalling the game via Steam and reinstalling it with all the DLC I bought on it (it took hours), but most of them still won't appear in-game, even though they're right there in my file directory.

  • @NitroIndigo  I'd definitely contact EA support at this point.  Even if you can't get a refund, you'll at least be able to ask if there's anything wrong with your purchases.

  • I've got the same problem! After I updated yesterday the game package "Dine out" dissappeared. I've also tried to repair the game, reset and a hard reset and reinstall origin. Nothing works! It drives me crazy. I hope they'll come up with a solution!

  • @NitroIndigo  Try repairing through Origin or the EA App, which often restores missing data about entitlements.  Open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon (Origin) or hover over the icon and click the three dots (EA App), and select Repair.

If that doesn't help, is there any pattern to which packs show up now?  For example, maybe the ones you bought from Origin show up but not the ones from Steam.  Are you still using Origin, or have you switched to the EA App?  And within Origin or the EA App, do all your packs show as owned?

@sandraronild  Do you or did you previously have an EA Play Pro subscription?  Is Dine Out the only missing pack, and where did you buy it if you didn't get it through a subscription?

@puzzlezaddict I already tried repairing it on Origin before I uninstalled it. I don't use the EA app. Even after I reinstalled all my Origin packs, only the ones I listed are appearing.

My best guess is that the update bugged something so the game can only have a certain number of packs active at a time.

@NitroIndigo  Plenty of people run the game with all packs, or close to it, so if there were a cap on the number of packs that could load, we'd be seeing a very large number of complaints.

Please clear Origin's cache and repair the game again.

If that doesn't help, let me know whether the missing packs are listed as owned within your Origin game library.  Please also let me know whether you originally bought these packs only through Origin, or some of them are from Steam; and which Origin-bought packs do show up.  I'm not sure from your list which packs came from Steam.

@puzzlezaddictCleared my Origin cache, will restart computer later.

EDIT: I've done all the steps, and most of my packs still aren't available. The few working packs are a mix of ones I own on Steam and Origin.

I'm honestly considering getting a refund, but I've owned this game for too long to be able to.

@puzzlezaddict I emailed them a few days ago and didn't get a response, but I also can't find it in my outbox, so I might've not sent it by accident or something.
  • I also have this issue I have everything but the last kit. But it claims I do not own HSY. It also won't let me play my save without claiming I do not own/have installed most DLC.

    I'm on EA App.

@puzzlezaddict I contacted them through the web chat, and they basically said it was a known issue and they're working on fixing it.
