[PC] Repeatable Crash – SystemError: unknown opcode in Autonomy (No Mods)

Mods/CC:

None – Fully removed Mods folder before testing

localthumbcache.package deleted before launching

Reproduced on a brand-new save

Steps to Reproduce: Launch The Sims 4 on a fresh save with no mods or CC. Usually when on a busy lot or when travel to another lot. It seems to happen randomly. It's happened with a full household with all sims being human, a full household with all being human and one fairy sim. It's happened with a single sim.

Expected Result: Being able to play without randomly crashing every 30-60 minutes.

Troubleshooting Tried:

Removed all Mods/CC

Deleted localthumbcache.package

Game repair via EA App

Lowered graphics settings

Reproduced in new saves and existing saves

Happens in both populated and empty worlds

Additional Notes: May be related to recent autonomy changes or performance regressions introduced in latest patch. It's only happened since Enchanted By Nature.

  • Cubanbe92  Did you specifically disable CPU Turbo Boost?  If you think so, please list the setting you disabled just in case it's not the relevant one.

Thanks so much for the help. Unfortunately I experienced another crash with same error even after doing what you suggested.

  • Cubanbe92  Thanks for the dxdiag.  Most of the Sims 4 errors it lists are crashes that point to python37_x64.dll, and these are common on high-end Intel processors that the motherboard may overclock by default.  Sometimes a BIOS update fixes the issue, so please look for an update and install it if you find one.  I believe this is your board:

    https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-Z790-A-WIFI/support

Your dxdiag lists your BIOS version as M.40, so I can't tell whether you have the most recent version.  (This is an issue with how MSI lists BIOS versions in general.)  But your computer may list the full version elsewhere.

If that doesn't help, or you already have the newest BIOS installed, please boot into BIOS and disable CPU Turbo Boost, which should be somewhere under Advanced settings.
