playing Sims 4 in Origin in online mode cause computer to freeze need advice

I know I been having this problem for a long time.  But I finally got the cause of it- the Origin's off-line mode.  I don't really want to play in Origin Off-line mode due to needing stuff from the gallery for my SimLit .  But playing in off-line mode seems  to be my only option beside the "unfun" option of only being able to play for 10-15mins without the computer freezing up.  (Yes I did all the other crap suggested elsewhere- Origin cache, Scanfrow, etc )  Now here are my two questions

1. Now if It's an origin problem - is there any point in taking the computer to a repair place?

2. Should Dad/I look into getting a new computer?

  • @Madamelee  Please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of Origin.  First, clear Origin's cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

Then use Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine, either regular or portable) to remove all traces of Origin, except for the Origin Games folder.  Here's how:

    • Quit Origin, then right-click on the Task Bar and open the Task Manager.  Scroll through looking for Origin entries.  If you find any, click on them and End Task.
    • Download Revo Uninstaller from here (again, the free versions are fine).
    • Install Revo, open it, and uninstall Origin.  When it's finished, Revo will ask you which cleaning method you want to use.  Select "Moderate" and then Browse.
    • If Revo finds any remaining registry entries, select all, delete, and click Next.
    • Revo will display "Remaining Data and Folders.  Select all of them except for the "Origin Games" folder.  (This is where Sims 4 and other Origin games are installed.)  Delete the rest.
    • Restart your computer.

Next, download and install Origin—the regular version, not the beta.  Here's the direct download link:

    http://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/OriginSetup.exe

Be sure to run both the installer and Origin itself as an admin: right-click on each and select "Run as Administrator."  If it doesn't work, let me know, and please also post another dxdiag, so anyone else with ideas can see the current state of your computer.

I notice, I should have about 30 Sims 4 packs  but only 16 downloaded when I re-installed the Origin   Yes they're legal key codes   Like what happened to City Living, and Get Together and Outdoor Retreat and Dine Out, or stuck packs like "Luxury one, or Toddler or kids' Pack,    or what about the "specials" like "Life of the Party" and Digital soundtracks  which my SISTER paid for since she gifted me the Premium Editon of Sims 4 in 2014 ?  I do remember when I tried to repair the game *last* time after re-downloading Origin previously (but that was months after I have had Origin-causing Computer to freeze problem) -that it wouldn't repair Dine Out for some reason.    and all Origin is giving me is "add to the qeue"

@Madamelee  Try restarting your computer and downloading one pack at a time.  If that doesn't help, clear Origin's cache and restart your computer again, then try downloading one pack at a time.

    @puzzlezaddict

I'm a bit stuck on what to do at the moment - I did the first half of what you told me but with the 2nd half I'm not sure what I'm suppose to be doing

@Madamelee  Double-check that every entry references Origin; it looks like they all do from your screenshots, but it's better for you to look as well.  Click "Select all" in the lower left corner, then "Delete."  Then move on to the next step.

I just notice what I have been downloading was called "Origin Thin setup" does that mean the Beta version?

@Madamelee  The OriginThinSetup is the small ("thin") installer, as opposed to the full installer.  The point of the ThinSetup is it's a smaller download.  Either one should install the normal (not beta) version of Origin, but the full installer is more reliable.
