PLEASE HELP!! Sim households won’t load, no gameplay.

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.55.105.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of them
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? When trying to load a household for gameplay.
What happens when the bug occurs? When you hover over the households, it flashes and won’t show my Sims.
What do you expect to see? My Sims
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Whatever the latest update is

So I load into my game and everything seems fine, the houses I created are there, I can go to the gallery and all that. But when you hover over the households I created, it says their name but flashes green where the Sims should show. I tried loading into that household and it won’t work..

i went to manage household and theyre all blank (not showing my Sims) but they’re household name shows. So I tried going to “edit household” and it goes to create a sim, but my Sims STILL WONT LOAD. It has a random Sim like it’s usually does when creating a new family even though I clicked “edit current household”.

I went to game options and it’s showing “0/200” Sims...

im freaking out. My Sims are gone, yet still says they live in these household I created.. idk what to do...

i do have mods but they’re all removed with this issue still happening. I have been playing Sims 4 since it came out and have GENERATIONS of family’s just gone. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

  • If you have an older version of the save try going back to that copy and see if everything is back to normal.

I've experienced random game corruption in the past myself, although it is rare, but going back to an old save from before the corruption occured seems to be the only thing that will fix it.

Also as a bit of advice, and you may already do this but I figured I'd add just in case you don't: don't keep saving over the same save over and over again. I like to periodically, at least once every couple days do a "Save As" instead of overwriting the same save. I also back up my saves every so often in case of situations like this.

Edit to add: Maybe try a game repair before reverting back to an old save.

    @brittanyraye13

Step 1. Rename The Sims4 folder to "The Sims4 old"
Step 2. Fix the game in Origin
    Origin/Library - right-click on TS4 - option "Repair game"
You have to wait until Origin will fix all packs, not only the base game.
Step 3. Turn on the game - a new game folder will be created and you will have two - one old, one new
Step 4. Check if you still have this problem in the newly created game folder.
    If the problem disappeared
Step 5. Delete in the new game folder following folders:
    "saves" and Tray.
Step 6. Go to "The Sims 4 old" folder and copy - your "saves " folder.
Step. 7, Paste this folder in a newly created game folder.
Step 8. Do the same with Tray folder and TrayDeleteItems file

Check if your game if working properly now with the old save

    If yes:
Step 9. Check if there are newly updated version mods you are using.
Then copy and paste your mods and CC from old mods folder to the new one. First copy the scripts mods every time checking if the game is working properly. If you have a lot of CC try 50/50 method ( divide your CC into smaller batches for example 50 pieces in one subfolder and check these subfolders one by one)

The last step - delete The Sims4 old folder.

Your saves and library will be not changed or damaged

However, it may happen that although the new saves will not have this error anymore, the old save will remain damaged. Then, as advised above the only way, is to go back to the earlier save

By the way. If it will be work save the game option "Save as .. number " - not "Save and Quit".Then you'll always have the easy option of going back to your earlier save

    I don't work for EA

  • Did any of these options work for you? I have the same exact problem for weeks now.
