I do also have that issue, but no. This is an issue with the game not saving and not being able to go into build mode or world edit mode as well as not having romance preferences visible in the sims info panel in live mode.
@danikajaye As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.) Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and let me know which issues, if any, are still present.
Please also clear the EA App's cache and repair the game before testing.

First thank you for the help. I appreciate it 🙂
Second, as stated previously this is only an issue with old save files. New save files work perfectly.
My old save files get corrupted when I try to open them since the update. I do not have any serious mods that would corrupt them once removed (just McCommand). And in these old save files the new romance features are not visible in the sim panel in live mode.

@danikajaye Sorry, it's been a long day. Does the old save work in the new user folder, with no other added content? If your main household doesn't work, try a different one, and if that doesn't work, try new sims in the main save. If none of them work, try a backup save:

The idea is to further narrow down the source of the issue.
It's entirely possible that one of your mods corrupted your save, but that's not clear at this point.

I am having the exact same issue as well. I have never used mods in my game before, so I don't think it's that. Somehow the new updated has corrupted people's older saves, making it impossible to save your game once you load into it.

I was having the exact same issue and I tried your suggestion (@puzzleaddict), however I do use mods.
So I removed my sims folder and rerun the app (with no mods), and I was able to get into cas. Then I added in my mods, and I was still able to get into cas. I added my old save files (from before the update), started a new save, and I was able to get into cas. Then I tried to play one of my old saves and I couldn't get into cas. So I believe it’s something to do with the old save files (not the mods), unfortunately.
Edit: I tried a couple of "experiments" with running the game with new/old saves folders, tray folders, saved games, and families. Playing one of my families from before this update seems to be the common factor when I get an error (which sucks because I don't want to start with new families).

I knew this update would ruin everything, but I didn't really expect it to make my 6 generation legacy family unplayable.
I'm going to give a bit of context before I get uselessly upset. I'm well versed in mods, I immediately prepared for this update the best way a mod using simmer could: I moved my tray, I backed up my saves, I started over with my 10,000 file mod list, I did everything right to conquer this update. And still, I can't get into my old saves, no matter what I try. If I take out the mods, the game hangs on load for hours. I understand this is a risk of playing with mods - I just don't think it should render all past progress (which in this game we are SO emotionally invested in hello?) completely inaccessible. And for eggplants?
Unfortunately this is THE gut punch that's gonna send me zoo tycooning.
