"preparing game" over and over again

@dvrosol Sorry for the late reply. It looks like your post was only moved to the Sims 4 PC tech forum today.
If the game can't launch and never has on this computer, then it won't create any user files. I'm not sure where the saves are from; did you transfer them from an older computer? At any rate, try renaming the Sims 4 folder in your screenshot to see whether the game creates a new one. If OneDrive is running on this computer, pause syncing before trying to play, so OneDrive doesn't lock up this folder and/or try to redownload the old version. The pause option shows when you right-click the cloud icon in the lower-right corner of the screen, or sometimes in the Tray (^ icon).
If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a reply here.
