Problems after downloading the sims 4 parenthood

I installed the sims 4 parenthood a few days after it came out and since then I have been experiencing serious glitches/issues with my game. I have almost all of the other stuff/game/expansion packs as well as a lot of custom content in my game. There are so many issues that I can't list all of them but the main ones include that anytime a teaching moment pops up it won't let me select an option and freezes and the core values are not working the bars just go up and down on their own. So I am mainly having issues with content from the expansion pack but their are several other things wrong with my game and it honestly just feels like no one else is having as major of issues as I am after downloading parenthood. I tried cleaning out my cc and updated my game to the recent June 15th patch however, it did nothing. Can someone please help I just want to be able to play my game again.

  • Hi @Shelbie_ann01

these kind of errors are most often mods/cc related. Mods (and sometimes also custom content) get outdated with patches and need update.

If you're using any, please remove them all (unsure if clean out means you took them all out or just a few) and try again.

If it works with no cc installed, you'll need to find the one that's causing your issue.

See this for more information: [PLEASE READ] Usage of Mods and Custom Content

  • I have done that already I have all of my cc and mods organized in different folders based on what they are and so it was very easy for me to go through and try to find what was causing the problem and it seemed that it worked after I found a few files that weren't working as well as completely removing the majority of my cc and a few mods. However, after doing that I started to get even more issues including the issue I mentioned before where my game would freeze every time a teaching moment popped up. I am convinced that it has to do with Parenthood because I never had any issues before installing it.

So you removed the entire mods folder and cleaned your caches and still had the freezing (that especially has been reported by others as being mod related) ?

Could you try renaming your entire user folder and start a new game for testing purposes to see if that also has the issue ?

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

NO YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I am having the same exact issues!!! I am trying to figure these issues out and it is highly annoying!!
  • Hi there!

A lot of these problems are usually associated with Custom Content and Mods. Before you do anything, please can you tell me what type of computer you are using (Ex. Mac, Windows), the specs of the computer, and the OS (Ex. MacOS Sierra, Windows 10) of the computer as well. This is very important because some computers are not supported by The Sims 4, and/or the specs are a little too low for The Sims 4 to run on. After doing that, make sure that you try and move all of your custom content to a different folder in your desktop. If it still doesn't work, then try re-downloading The Sims 4 or remove The Sims 4: Parenthood and try launching up the game again.

    Have a good day!
