Re: [BY DESIGN] Autonomous Romance?

I agree with you. It's not fun if you play rotational. I just don't know if Maxis considers this as working as intended or not.

    This is currently the intended design. Our autonomy does not distinguish between NPCs and non-active played Sims. So like Crin said, non-active played Sims can get into romantic interactions on community lots with any other Sim.

    That being said, I would love to get my hands on a save file where this issue is occurring. Just because it's the intended design doesn't mean I can't report it, and all the issues it's creating. 🙂

    Hi @SimGuruNick ! I have two rotational saves you can use here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/fdk8rsnjh1prm5t/tworotationalsaves.zip

    Slot_0000000a.save (Experimentown D) is a save with 4 played households.

    Slot_00000005.save (Simland 1.3) is a save with almost all households marked played.

    I get the autonomous relationships - sweetheart, friend, and dislike - forming within about 24 Sim hours, so it doesn't take too long playing on speed 3 to see it happen, especially if the active household doesn't only stay home.

    Just to add some of the reason it's an issue for me as a rotational player: I find it disconcerting when a Sim who in my mind is a one-Sim romancer only ends up with a sweetheart romance; if they were player types, it wouldn't bother me. I find it disconcerting to come back to a mean or loner Sim and find they've got a host of new friendships, or to find a nice Sim has a dislike-level relationship with another Sim - a low level I could understand, but in my mind, that could be a Sim who doesn't hate anybody, no matter what. I find it very creepy to come back to a Child and find they've been making full-on friendships with Adults or Elders who aren't even their neighbours. I know my played Sims personalities and stories, and it's frustrating when the game counters them. For nonplayed Sims, go for it! They're not mine the same way.

    @SimGuruNick

    Sadly this autonomous romancing is causing more than just a simple flirting that can be forgotten, its causing my married sims to dislike each other. Not cool. The mods I use are some no autonomous interactions by cool1sim at mts but I had this problem before the use of these mods (no auto: kicking trashcan, hugging, grabbing drinks, bush (fertilize) use, stereo use -  also one mod by weerbesu that stops the random illnesses because there is just too many too often).

    I dont mind the romancing for uncommitted sims, but I thought the whole point of putting them in a relationship was to ya know make them faithful? These arent romance sims, they are sims I arranged marriages for that were happily married.
