Re: Can't use building mode or the gallery

@nilsenvik00  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know what problems, if any, are still present.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Please also post a screenshot, or the full text, of any error message you see.

okay, I just did it, and it's just the base game right with all the packs I got. So if I leave the game now and then put the folder back in where it was..is it gonna work then?

@nilsenvik00  The point of the clean folder is that it doesn't have any of your saves or other user data.  Do the problems still show up in the clean folder?  Please test without adding anything to it, or if you've already restored your old folder, move that out again and test with another new folder.

in the clean folder, there are no problems at all, I tried to put the folder back but that didn't help so I had the Sims 4 map on the desktop again.

@nilsenvik00  Then that means something in your old folder is causing the problems.  It's probably a mod, but not necessarily, so the place to start is by testing your mods and custom content.  You can do so in batches, or use the 50/50 method if you have a lot of files to sort through.

Once you've done that, transfer over a save that was previously affected and test it too.  If it's fine, you can transfer the rest of your saves, plus the contents of the Tray folder.  Most of the rest doesn't need to be transferred, but here's a description of everything in the user folder so you can decide for yourself:

In general, it's best to use the game's newly-generated files and folders where you have a choice; don't reuse old content unless you need it for some specific reason.
