@deliriumdelightd  Thanks for the dxdiag, which makes the problem clear: Sims 4 doesn't work well in DirectX 9 mode on your laptop's family of processors and graphics chips.  The workaround is to force DirectX 11 mode.  Open your EA App game library, click Sims 4 > Manage > View properties, and enter -dx11 in the command line box.

You may or may not need to use laptop mode here.  It's for low-end hardware, not laptops per se, and it's just disabling Advanced Rendering under another name.  So feel free to disable laptop mode, and if you like the results and performance is okay, keep it disabled.
