I've followed those steps and it still doesn't work. As well as options for the sims, it also doesn't show up in some notifications. what else could i try to fix this?

@zeldafest213 That is strange! Do you use any custom content or mods? Either way could you try moving your Mods folder to your desktop and then check if the same issue still occurs.
Mods folder default location: My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods

I don't use mods or custom content, none of this is working. Should I re-install the game? If it helps, I had the trial and I purchased the discs but I couldn't play the game on the trial account for some reason so I made a new account. Would it help if I attached a picture of the problem?

@zeldafest213 If you are willing then yes reinstalling may help. Make sure to make a copy of your Saves folder if you do not want to lose your saves. The 'saves' folder is in the same location as the Mods folder.
Let us know how you get on!
