Re: I can't find my custom downloaded sim in my library

@nritzau22  The files for the sims need to be directly in Tray, not in a subfolder.

@1sbpk6hqy9q5  If you download a household from the Gallery and just place it in a house, it doesn't get saved.  You also need to separately save the household to your in-game library, in which case its files land in Tray.

How did you fix it? I’m having the same issue. I put them in tray, there’s no sub folder and still, nothing:

@em_0508  Same request to you:  Please take a screenshot of the Tray folder showing the files for the missing sim.  Please highlight the files you've added—you can sort the folder by date if it's easier.

@GalaxyRain49  I don't see anything obviously wrong in your screenshot.  Please try downloading a different sim instead and see whether it works.

If you're running the Legacy Edition of Sims 4, please let me know as well.

@ValTheWolf  If you've downloaded a sim along with custom content, the cc needs to go into your Mods folder, not into Tray where you put the sim.

If that doesn't help, please describe your issue in more detail, including a screenshot of the cc files in whatever folder they're in now.  Include the address bar, above the list of files and folders, in the screenshot.

If I edit the name of the file in the tray, to remember what it is later on, will it still work as expected?

@59ywtmn3rn04  Probably not, but you can try it.  Each in-game Library item has several corresponding files in Tray.  You can sort by date to group them together.  You'll notice that for a given item, the files will each start with 0x0000000x! , with x starting as 0 and counting up; then the next part of the file name is the same for all files for a given item.  If you change that next part to the same thing for all relevant files, they might still load.  But it's also possible the game will reject any files not named in their original format.

Point is, keep a backup copy of the Tray files you want to change, and be prepared to delete the new files if the game can't read them.
