Re: I reinstalled the sims, chose Norwegian but it shows in English

@tinastar4ever  There's currently a bug with the EA App where it may not install a game in another language if the App itself is running in English, or perhaps if the App doesn't support the language chosen for the game.  At any rate, the only fix is to reinstall Origin and change the language there.  You can download Origin from the link here:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin-Client-Web-Technical/Downloading-and-installing-Origin-Windows-and-Mac/m-p/11915666

There's no need to uninstall the EA App.  Once you've installed Origin, open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, select Game Properties > Advanced Launch Options, and choose Norwegian from the dropdown menu.  Origin should download the language strings if they're not already present and then launch the game in Norwegian.

Hopefully the EA App will be updated to address this soon enough, but in the meantime, Origin still works fine.

Unfortunately it's not possible to install origin anymore.

    You can get the installer

    https://www.dm.origin.com/windows/download

But it won't download the software.

I'm also stuck with a different language for my game than my system, browser, and EA App.

    That's terrible CX.

I don't see any logical reason whatsover why EA would want to limit peoples ability to select their games language, which makes it illogical and wrong.

Support can't help either. So frustrating!

@GreyHavens85 I have the exact opposite situation!
I want to play in English, but the only languages available are Polish, Russian and Czech...

@puzzlezaddict Will that work the other way around? Can I install the base game from steam in english and then still have my expansions from EA App?

Any chance for more detailed instructions please?

BTW How is this thread marked as solved? 🤨

@leila_pwns  The original issue was apparently account-related and resolved two years ago.  It was not the usual language lock, as you can see from the OP, and this particular iteration of the language issue hasn't shown up in a long time.

Steam offers the global version of Sims 4, so yes, you should be able to install it in English.  You'd want to first uninstall the EA App version to avoid conflicts.  Once you've installed through Steam, and downloaded any packs you own through Steam, you'd open the EA App and install the packs you own there, but NOT a second copy of the base game.  Everything should load as if you'd installed it all through Steam.

    It worked! Thank you! @puzzlezaddict

Here's how to have The Sims 4 in any language you want.

This method should also work for other games:

    1. Uninstall The Sims 4 from the EA App.
    2. Install The Sims 4 via Steam.

    3. Click on The Sims 4 in your steam library, then select the gear icon on the far right from the "Play" button

    4. From the dropdown select properties.

    5. Set the language to whatever you want.
    6. Launch The Sims 4 through Steam (it will open the EA App and connect the Steam version to it)
    7. Close the game.

    8. Open EA App
    9. In the EA App, select "manage game packs" under The Sims 4 and download all your game packs.
    10. Now you can launch the game either through the EA App, Steam, or a desktop shortcut in your chosen language!

Sorry to say, but feels like EA Support Chat is useless, I wasted hours yesterday with them for nothing (and they were rude at some point).

Finding hacks and work arounds gives better result than getting in touch with these Indian support centers.
