Re-installed Sims 4

Today I uninstalled Sims 4 and re-installed it, but now the game will not run.  On re-installation I was not asked for my product code.  Is this why the game will not run?

Yes, the game shows up in origin.  I have spent all day trying to get it to work.  I clicked on the desktop icon and on my game in origin; I ran as administrator; I restored previous version; I redeemed the product code; I downloaded DirectX;  I uninstalled the game, and re-installed it.  I have tried to run it about twenty times.  Always it gets as far as the Sims 4 loading screen, and then I get the message: The Sims 4 has stopped working.  I'm at my wit's end.  How can I make it run?

There was something that might be relevant.  A few days ago something, I think it was Adobe, wanted to instal and update, and I noticed while it was loading that some files were deleted.  After that, each time I started my computer, I got the message: Windows cannot find UpdateTool.exe.  Today I did not get that message, but my game will not run.  Is UpdateTool.exe an essential part of Sims 4?  If Adobe has deleted it, how can I get it back?  Of course, this may have nothing to do with the game's failure to run.

UpdateTool comes with Origin I think.

    Try reinstalling Origin then.

Well, I have uninstalled Origin.  When I go to download Origin, I am baffled by the number of options.  I clicked on the orange arrow to Download Origin in the first on the list.  Norton reported that OriginThin-something was safe, so I pressed Save, but nothing seems to be happening.  Advice, please.  How can I re-instal Origin?

It's all right, I found Origin in my Downloads folder, and installed it.  Alas, my game would still not play.  In Origin, I right-clicked on Repair Game.  It verified and installed, and then gave me a chime and the notice that Sims 4 was ready to play.  I clicked Play, but still I got the message 'The Sims 4 has stopped working'.  Well, what more can I do?  I've re-installed the game, re-installed Origin.  Should I send my game back to Amazon with a complaint?  Have you any idea of what might help?  I'm wimpering a bit here.

Thank you, both.  After I stopped panicking, I read some of the stickies and found out how to restore factory settings.  All is well now, though I feel rather foolish after making so many mistakes.  Thank you for all your help.
