Re: Lost progress from moving game folder

@magdalenaR  Are you saying the game currently doesn't load at all, or is the only issue that your saves don't show up?  For the saves, they need to be in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves, and your other user content (saved households and builds, mods and custom content) need to be in that same Sims 4 folder.  If you move that folder, or the Electronic Arts folder it's in, the game won't be able to find the data and will create a new folder with no content.

If you want to store your saves and other content in a different location, you can use a symbolic link to tell the game where to look.  Here's how:

(Windows)

(Mac)

Make sure you back up your saves and anything else you wouldn't want to lose before starting the process.

@camellia2k7  Please post a screenshot of the Command Prompt window showing the command you're entering and the result.  Please also list the location where you'd like your user folder.

Finally, please list the location of your Documents directory, as Windows sees it.  You can find it by entering this in Command Prompt:

reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"
