@rionachocroinin You can try clearing the App's cache:
https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/
and repairing the game. And you can try going offline and back online.
But if that doesn't help, the only fix is to uninstall and reinstall Sims 4.
