Re: PC recommendation to run the Sims 4

@EriSims974  None of these is a great option for Sims 4.  They don't have a dedicated graphics card, and the integrated graphics chips are not particularly fast either.  The graphics card or chip would be the limiting factor in how well Sims 4 would run.  It's not clear whether any of these would take a GPU upgrade—that would depend on the power supply and the space inside the case, neither of which is discernible from the product pages.  Even if the same model does also come with a dedicated card, it might have been equipped with or upgraded to have a better PSU, so that alone isn't sufficient information.

In terms of performance, the last one would probably do the best overall, even if that only means medium graphics settings at most.  But its price is far too high for the hardware, and it sounds like 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage won't be nearly enough for your other tasks, even if Sims 4 itself would manage.  The next-best option is the third one: its iGPU is somewhat faster than the one in the first two systems.

Please don't limit yourself to options that come with two monitors, or even one.  You could easily find a cheap monitor or two on Ebay or Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, and monitors are simple to test: plug one in and play a video, and you'll know whether it's in good working order.  Because higher-end monitors are a lot cheaper than they were four or five years ago, I'd expect to see a lot of people upgrading and happy to get some trivial amount for their old screens.

For the computer itself, there are lots of refurbished options from third-party sellers that have a dedicated graphics card and 32 GB RAM, too many to list even within your price range:

I can't speak to the quality of the sellers, but if you're comfortable with one of them, or with the one-year guarantee that some of them offer, it's a reasonable purchase.  And like I said, you can find the monitors elsewhere, especially used.  An Nvidia GTX 1050 ti, desktop edition, is fast enough for ultra settings, if not by a large margin.  A 1650 is a bit faster, and anything higher than those (1060, 1660, 3050, etc.) is more than good enough, although those would drive up the price.

If you have more questions, please feel free to ask.

@puzzlezaddict Thank you for your input.
Since I play on a Mac with a lack of storage and just 8GB of RAM I thought something with higher RAM wouldn't be that bad. I mean IDK how they would run next to my Mac, but I was thinking can't be worse 😅

Yeah, at first I wanted an all-in-one computer hence why I put the last one too to avoid buying all the different parts but yeah the price is high but this is how it is unfortunately in Canada nowadays, especially Quebec so I'm not shocked about it.

I mean playing with Ultra Settings would be the best but it's all right if I can just get a high quality. I'm used to low settings with my Mac so anything that can get higher is totally fine with me. It's just I use a ton of mods and ccs and I wanted to add some more DLCs to my collection so I was looking at my options so I could also enjoy this new desktop computer for my job.
Thank you for enlightening me, I will take a look at your link and I know I can find monitors for good prices so I will try to build a setup like that, it will surely be cheaper than the all-in-one options for sure.

This was helpful, thanks again, I will look into all of this in the upcoming weeks and carefully pick the sellers and if you know some good ones on Amazon or anything like that, I'll gladly take them as well ☺️
    Thanks.

@EriSims974  If you don't know for sure that you need 32 GB RAM, that's an easy corner to cut now.  16 GB is more than sufficient for running Sims 4 and some moderate multitasking, and while your work software might require or recommend more, if it doesn't, you don't need the extra memory.  It's also the cheapest and easiest upgrade to perform, so if you decide a year from now you'd like more RAM, you can order the kit of your choice and add it or swap it out, depending on whether the motherboard has empty slots.

The point is, you don't need to limit yourself to systems with 32 GB.  I applied that filter because of the options you picked out, but you can remove the filter and maybe save a little money if you prefer.  Or, if the price difference is trivial, get the extra RAM and know you'll never have to worry about it.

@puzzlezaddict Yes I know the 16GB is more than enough, it's perfect haha. But my job's software is pretty basic aside from the whole Microsoft Office, so I don't think it requires so much power. We just have a couple of shared files but yeah they won't take the whole space or memory lol. The ones you sent me have a decent price for what they are, I think I saw a couple of 16GB with higher prices so I'll dig a little on what you sent me.
Thanks again for your help ☺️
