Re: Saves & Mods are gone! Sims 4 keeps starting up as a new game

@Jennarogers2197  It sounds like you were briefly running the Legacy Edition.  It has its own user folder in Documents\Electronic Arts, and that folder wouldn't contain your saves or mods.

You should be able to switch back to the 64-bit version in Origin though: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, select Game Properties > Advanced Launch Options, and choose 64-bit from the dropdown menu.  If you don't see the option, try repairing the game again.  If you still don't see it, temporarily disable your antivirus, repair yet again, and then set exceptions for Origin.exe and TS4_x64.exe.

  • I was using legacy up until September but then I realized my computer could handle regular version so I switched over. I was able to actually save some of my saves because if this (I copied and pasted them). I made the mistake of transferring over my (normal sims) saves without copying and pasting them (once I searched my computer and found they were relocated) by just dragging them over. So when my saves disappeared again, they seem to be all gone. Any tips with the info I just gave you ?

@Jennarogers2197  Please make sure you're still running the standard version of Sims 4—the older version of the Main Menu is an obvious symptom of the LE.  You should be able to see which version is launching within Origin, or in the Task Manager.

If the saves aren't in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves (or in the LE folder), look in OneDrive.  It often automatically syncs the contents of Documents; if your C driev is low on space, it can instead move the files to OneDrive and not leave a copy on your hard drive.  If you find your saves there, you can simply move them back to the Sims 4 folder on your hard drive.  The same goes for mods.

If you don't see anything in OneDrive, try searching your computer.  Open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, and type Slot_ in the search bar in the upper right corner.  That should turn up any saves on your hard drive(s).  Again, if you find them, put them back where they belong.  Check the location of the saves for any mods as well, because they may have been moved to the same place.
