Re: Sim Won't Die

If you have no mods or cc, then I suggest trying to click 'repair game' - the cog near the 'play' button.

Then some of these steps, if it is still happening:

Spoiler

There is a step by step here on Clearing Cache Files (you can also move it to the desktop instead of deleting if you want to be on the safe side).

Another idea for you is to to a Clean Boot of your pc.

Sasha.

nb: also check the settings section 'in-game' and if you have aging off or not.

Let us know how you go after the steps above.

  • Hello again. Sorry for the late response.

The issue is still happening. My Sim has now also died of old age and gotten up again. What else could I try?

@orangebottles  Where did this sim originally come from?  Some sims have a hidden immortal trait, and they fail to die (or rather start to die and then don't) in the same way you've described.  If you downloaded this sim from the Gallery, perhaps she's secretly immortal.

The only way I know of to find out whether this is the issue is to use a mod, e.g. Show Sim Info, to display all traits.  I think it's possible to use another mod (MCCC) to remove the trait, although I haven't tested.

Or you could just move her out of the house and then evict her.  She won't die, but she'll be out of the way.

Oh I actually just fixed the issue. I moved my Sim to another household I wasn't playing as and my Sims got the "Hey, just letting you know they died" message.

    Thanks for all the help!

@orangebottles  Even better.  I'm curious though, are they in fact dead, or did the message maybe trigger when they started to die but then didn't follow through again?  It would be useful to know, since this issue does surface from time to time.

Yes, they are. They no longer appear in the house I moved them to, and they appear as a ghost in the relationship page and genealogy page with the "died of old age" text.

I have the same issue.  I have been moving them out as my work around too after getting frustrated about it.  It creates the urn she/he lies down then gets back up as soon as the grim sim arrives.  No mods and nothing added that I didn't get from an expansion, gamepack, etc.  It all started happening after I installed the Star Wars Expansion.....

This happening to me as well. I removed all of my mods and just like the original poster said they fall to the ground, the grim reaper tries to take them, a grave appears, but then they just respawn and come back to life. This wasn't a sim from the gallery, but a npc that I brought into my household. They should be dying from old age. I will need to put my mods back in to check for the hidden immortality trait and I will update.

  • @jk04605 Used Mc Command and he doesn't have a hidden immortality trait. Not sure what to do. I've already tried repairing the game twice now.

Okay so I was able to fix it! I had to delete the localthumbcache.package.
