Re: Sims 4 clock freezing, not allowing me to click anything

@ashesinchains Did you test a new save to see if it's save game related or a general issue ?

  • I am also having this issue. I have tried reinstalling the game, resetting the game folder, deleting cache, clean + reinstalled Nvidia graphics driver. Deleted cc. Uninstalled and reinstalled the EA app. Every time i play for a few sim hours and my game becomes unresponsive and time pauses and trees keep moving, the sims lighting even changes like its playing but I can't click on anything and all the sims stand still. Any suggestions?? I am so stuck. I have attached my DXDiag

@randomchick32  First, please install the Nvidia Firmware update Dell offers for your laptop, which you can find here:

    https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/g-series-15-5520-laptop/drivers

If you sort by category and scroll to the end of the list, it should be third-to-last.  Restart your computer after installing.  If you get a message that you've already installed this update, that's fine: Dell software may have downloaded and installed it automatically.

While you're on that page, download the Intel and Nvidia graphics drivers dated March 28 and December 8, respectively.  (It's best to start with the drivers Dell provides and only update if those aren't working properly.)  The next step here is to do a clean uninstall and reinstall of both drivers, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

The order of operations is uninstall the Nvidia driver > uninstall the Intel driver > restart > install the Intel driver > restart > install the Nviida driver > restart, all while your computer is offline.

When you're done reinstalling the drivers and are ready to test, please do so in a clean user folder, as in, move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop so that the game can create a new folder with no content.  Your saves and other user content won't be accessible, but that's fine: the files will all be intact in the old Sims 4 folder, and you can move them to the new folder later.  But the first step is to test in a new save with no mods or other extra content present.

I saved and exited the game, restarted it, played with a different family for about 10 minutes or so and the issue seemed to resolve itself. I hope this helps you as well!
