@TheRealLifeSim98  As mentioned, the file is a component of the 2015 and newer VC++ runtimes, which Sims 4 uses.  So please uninstall your current versions and install fresh copies.  (This is more thorough than simply updating.)  Hit Windows key-i, select Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, click on any version from 2015 or later, and select Uninstall.  Don't touch the older versions.  You can download the newest runtimes directly from Microsoft:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

You'll need both the x86 and x64 versions of the 2015-2022 runtimes, but you can skip the ARM version, which is for a different class of device.  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

Please continue to test without mods or custom content, at least for now.

  • @TheRealLifeSim98  Your dxdiag doesn't show any obvious Sims 4-related issues, so I'd like some information from the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Try again to play Sims 4, let it crash, and look for an error that happened at exactly this time.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

@TheRealLifeSim98 Looks like Microsoft Visual C++ is failing.

You can try Windows Update (Start > Settings > Windows Update) to see there are updates available for Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library, or manually download (and install/repair) the latest Visual C++ redistributable from microsoft.com.

@Tana6994  Did you try reinstalling the VC++ runtimes, as described in post 4?  If not, please do so now.

If that doesn't help, please either confirm that you're seeing exactly the same error (not just the crashing, the error code itself), or else let me know what you do see when you try to play.

  • On windows update i didn't have updates for other windows products ticked, when i did i had about 4 updates
